Soul Rest is a unique blend of yoga practices, easy creative practices, and short teaching points that help you and your journey towards Self.
Soul Rest includes journal prompts that come from selected poetry, some of which is my own published work. When you sit back and simply listen, inspiration conspires with creativity to flow from your mind to your hand as your pen never leaves the paper for at least 10 minutes. It’s free flowing stream of consciousness. No one is going to read what you write and spell check doesn’t exist when you go old school with pen and paper.
Soul Rest includes yoga “crib notes” to help guide the entire session. For this series, we’ll be exploring the five Koshas or the five layers of the mind: physical, energetic, mental/emotional, intellect, and bliss.
Soul Rest includes pranayama practice – breath work. Each week I’ll introduce you to a calming breath practice that you can practice on your own at any time. Breath work has an amazing calming effect on both the physical body and the mind.
Soul Rest includes gentle yoga sequences with photos/video and clear instructions. These sequences will include up to eight poses the help open, stretch and release physical tightness or tension in your body. These practices can be practiced at any time, either as a stand alone practice or combined with Pranayama and Yoga Nidra.
Soul Rest includes Yoga Nidra. In Sanskrit, “nidra” means sleep. In Yoga Nidra, we are conscious napping. Throughout the guided meditation you remain awake and aware while your physical body completely relaxes. Yoga Nidra engages the parasympathetic nervous system and allows your body to “rest and digest.” This practice can be done at any time. Morning is best as this practice will help you center and focus for the day ahead. That said, it’s also a fantastic tool if you find falling asleep a challenge. This practice will help you sleep better, improve your well-being, improve your sense of clarity and finding creative solutions to problems at work or home.
