I’m so excited about my next workshop, Navigating Change During Uncertain Times: Yoga Practices To Feel Grounded and Stable.
As I create the guidebook we’ll be using, I’m rediscovering the wisdom that helped me through some tough times and unexpected curve balls that recently got tossed my way.
I’ve lost four important family members in four months. My beloved Aunt Cal in May, my hero – my dad passed away unexpectedly in June, my father-in-law in July, and my grandmother (95) in August. At the same time as all this loss happened, I welcomed in my newest grandson, Samuel, born July 9, 2021. I went to Denver, CO two weeks after he was born to spend a week with my daughter, son-in-law, and Sam.
The old guard has passed on. I can only hope to carry their wisdom and teach it to my adult children and grand children.
Whether you’re going through a planned or unplanned change my two part workshop is designed to help you feel calm, centered and grounded.
Over the past several days I’ve had a few more plot twists. Five years ago, when my husband retired from the National Guard, we were told that he’d be able to start collecting his pension and health care benefits when he turned 58 1/2 years old. That was supposed to be this October. Well, we just found out that he can’t collect until April 2022, when he’s 59. I think about the day I quit my job, thinking it was just a six month thing until retirement benefits for my honey kicked in. Ha! We’ve got another six months to tack on.
The second plot twist was a scheduling mix up for my Twisted Crochet business. I no longer have my coveted October/November slot at my favorite place. The irony is the owner and I both thought I was in until she checked her art book. I wanted to cry when she messaged me that I wasn’t in. Maybe the subtitle for my workshop should be “When things don’t go as you planned and the pivot seems like it weighs a million tons.”
What did I do? I turned a morning of wallowing into a day of productivity. I spent Sunday focused on writing content for my consulting business and getting my written crochet patters uploaded and ready to launch for this week. Even as I write this, I’ve cleaned up two websites, got another pattern into my testers hot hands, taught a 6am online yoga class, took a walk, cleaned the kitchen, and I’m thinking about folding laundry.
This workshop is suitable for all levels, including anyone who’s never practiced yoga. Resources I’ll be using: Gita Wisdom and The Secret Power of Yoga. Please feel free to share this email with your friends.
Yoga is SO much more than asana (poses)
I hope to see you soon.
